On December 10th, 2008, Survivors Abreast was presented with a Philanthropy Award from Peterborough This Week. What an honour! Then later that same day the proceeds from the Peterborough Horizons Band Christmas concert were directed to Survivors Abreast. The following year in December 2009, the Band again chose our team for their Christmas concert.

Since 2008, Survivors Abreast has organized and hosted an Awareness Weekend in October, Breast Cancer Awareness month. Inspired by team member Caroline Basciano-Welch, the organizers invited several local health-related organizations to set up booths with staff to answer questions from the public and give out information and resources about female and male breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, recovery and support. The location for the past three years has been at Lansdowne Place at the Centre Court. Watch for news about plans for the event in 2011.
